Hello, Diricawl of FictionAlley here, or Megan, to most of you. I was transferring files to my new computer the other day when I stumbled over a short Bond!Ron snippet entitled Boredom and Booze that I had written for my beloved Good Ship while I struggled with finishing Voldemort Never Dies, which I am sad to say is really dead.

My beloved Bond!Ron had evolved from a cool satire on the spy/noir genre, to an extensive inside joke for my friends. Nothing wrong with that; after all, without their encouragement Bond!Ron would never have been written, and it was their wackiness that inspired me to go for as long as I did.

But when I found this snippet, I found myself re-imagining Bond!Ron as he was in the beginning – a dead sexy super spy with a slight drinking problem and a lot of sarcasm. Add to that a Ron just recovering from losing the love of his life, and set it in Egypt, and the Dreaded Plot Bunny reared its ugly head. Besides, what with the upcoming release of Casino Royale, prequels with a darker edge are clearly the cool thing to do.

Bond!Ron is obviously AU, has been, really, even before OotP and HBP. Nevertheless, I have tried to make it as canon compliant as possible, and hope that if I contradict myself in this prequel, you will forgive me. It is my hope that this story can be read on its own and will prove to be infinitely better than the drivel I wrote when I was new at this. If not, oh well, it was good for a laugh.

When/if it is finished (as it has already become far longer and more complicated than I'd hoped) I'd like to go back through my completed Bond!Ron fics, edit them, and post them here. For now, enjoy Curses Are Forever.
